On May 5, 2010, the Department of Foreign Languages at Weber State University, founded the Omega Alpha Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi. It is the 576th chapter in the United States.

The Omega Alpha chapter of Sigma Delta Pi is committed to academic excellence in the Spanish discipline. Members have consistent high academic achievement, both within the study of Spanish and in general college studies. The Omega Alpha chapter serves to encourage university students to acquire a greater interest in and a deeper understanding of Hispanic culture through a variety of activities. In addition, the Omega Alpha chapter seeks out students interested in assisting the community, especially Hispanic-speaking sectors.
